Hebrew Alignment(Vox): REST! "Shabbat"

Key Word: - Shabbat
שָׁבַת

The word is generally used as "rest" (noun or verb), a better rendering (translation) would be to "ceasing (from work)", as resting does not necessarily denote what kind of rest it is!
In the Tanakh and Siddur describe Shabbat as having three purposes:
1.    To commemorate God's creation of the universe, on the seventh (7th) day of which God rested from (or ceased) his work;
2.    To commemorate the Israelites' redemption from slavery in ancient Egypt;
3.    As a "taste" of Olam Haba (the Messianic Age).
The best illustration to explain "Shabbat" in detail is from:

Hebrew Alignment(Vox): Elohim

Keyword: Elohim
אֱלֹהִים

In the NASB, the typical translation would be first masked by the English, and secondly by the translators understanding (Theological leaning!).

For the Translator to be very sincere, he would keep to the original text and allow the reader to decide for himself.

While "Elohim" is usually rendered as "God" or "gods", the singular or plurality is based on Hebrew grammar and context.

In Psalm 82 it is clear that the "Most High" Elohim is YeHoVaH himself! The other "elohim" are the 'spirit beings' that work in His Council (Congregation)! Elohim is therefore not term used exclusively for God - the Most High or the 'gods' of his helpers. A better Hebraic concept is to think of "Elohim" is a term of reference to all 'spirit' beings outside of Time-Space-matter.

So now reading Psalm 82 in this light!

82:1  [[A Psalm of Asaph.]] Elohim(God) stands in the congregation of El (Poetic for God); He judges among the elohim(gods).
82:2 How long will you judge unjustly, And respect the persons of the wicked? Selah.
82:3 Judge the poor and fatherless: Do justice to the afflicted and destitute.
82:4 Rescue the poor and needy: Deliver them out of the hand of the wicked.
82:5 They know not, neither do they understand; They walk to and fro in darkness: All the foundations of the earth are shaken.
82:6 I said, You are elohim, And all of you sons of the Most High.
82:7 Nevertheless you shall die like men(adam), And fall like one of the princes.
82:8 Arise, O God (Elohim), judge the earth; For You shalt inherit all the nations.

Hebrew Alef-Bet(Vox): How to Write Alef to Hey (1st of Five)

Key: How to Write Alef to Hey (1st Five)
 אָלֶף | בֵּית | גִּימֶל | דָּלֶת | הֵא

ALEPH (Alef - Silent) אָלֶף

In gematria, aleph represents the number 1, and when used at the beginning of Hebrew years, it means 1000 (e.g. א'תשנ"ד in numbers would be the Hebrew date 1754, not to be confused with 1754 CE).

How to remember:
The name "Aleph"  depicts "The Head" of an OX. As a Hieroglyph:
F1
 -  which depicts an ox's head.

See Wiki on: Aleph

BET (Beh sound - Consonant)  בֵּית

The Hebrew letter represents two different phonemes:
a.   "b" sound (/b/) (bet) and
b.   "v" sound (
/v/) (vet).
The two are distinguished by a dot (called a dagesh) in the centre of the letter for /b/ and no dot for /v/.

Bet in gematria represents the number 2.
How to remember:
This letter's name means "house"

See Wiki on: Bet

GIMMEL (Geh sound - Consonant)   גִּימֶל

It is written like a vav with a yud as a "foot", and is "traditionally" believed to resemble a person in motion; symbolically, a rich man running after a poor man to give him charity!

In gematria, gimel represents the number 3.
How to remember:
This letter's name means "Foot"

See Wiki on: Gimmel

DALET (Dah sound - Consonant)  דָּלֶת

The letter is based on a glyph of a "door" (door in Modern Hebrew is delet), ultimately based on a hieroglyph depicting a door:
O31

In gematria, dalet symbolizes the number 4.

How to remember:
This letter's name means "door"

See Wiki on: Dalet

HEY
(Heh sound - Consonant)  הֵא
There is a special significance of the letter Hey in Judaism: It appears twice in the Hebrew name of God (יהוה). The letter also refers to the Five Books of Moses, which were given to the Jews by God in five separate voices.

In gematriaHei symbolizes the number 5, and when used at the beginning of Hebrew years, it means 5000 (i.e. התשנ״ד in numbers would be the date 5754).

Attached to words, Hei may have three possible meanings:
  • preposition meaning the definite article "the", or the relative pronouns "that", or "who" (as in "a boy who reads"). For example, yeled, a boy; hayeled, the boy.
  • A prefix indicating that the sentence is a question. (For example, Yadata, You knew; Hayadata?, Did you know?)
  • A suffix after place names indicating movement towards the given noun. (For example, YerushalayimJerusalemYerushalaymah, towards Jerusalem.)

How to remember:
This letter's name means "Look" or "Behold"

See Wiki on: Hey

Hebrew Alef-Bet(Vox): Tav ת

Key Character:  TAVת )

'Tav' is the 22nd letter in the Hebrew Alef-bet. The last of the basic 22 letters. And has the numeric value of 400!
It's easy to remember 'Tav' - in the common 'Object marker' = "את" (Pronounced as = "At") - many Christians like point to:

Revelation 22(NASB)

13 I am the Alef and the Tav, the first and the last, the beginning and the end.”

That's Jesus(Yeshua) speaking ... declaring he is the first and the last. While some would go crazy every time "את" is seen in the Hebrew Bible... I guess they we have to admire that Jesus(Yeshua) was divinely wise to associate himself to the Hebrew Language in such an interesting way. (Please don't go create a whole new Theology around this!)

תו  or תאו   'T'v'  or 'Tav'

In the pictograph form - it is a "Mark" or a "cross" (The Medical 'red-cross' sorts - NOT like the "Crucifix" ones - So there is no reason to get more excited about seeing "Crucifixes" all over the Hebrew Bible...

Now, one interesting "God-instance" would be seen in Ezekiel 9 (NASB)

4 YeHoVaH said to him, “Go through the midst of the city, even through the midst of Jerusalem, and put a mark ( תו T'v) on the foreheads of the men who sigh and groan over all the abominations which are being committed in its midst.”Utterly slay old men, young men, maidens, little children, and women, but do not touch any man on whom is the mark ( תו T'v); and you shall start from My sanctuary.” So they started with the elders who were before the temple.

Revelation 22 (NASB)

There will no longer be any curse; and the throne of God and of the Lamb will be in it, and His bond-servants will serve Him; they will see His face, and His name will be on their foreheads.

The word "Seal" חתם (Ch-Tam) is  linked to "Pledge" ערכון  “Ara-von”

Eph 1:13-14 (NASB)

In Him, you also, after listening to the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation—having also believed, you were sealed "Ch-Tam"  in Him with the Holy Spirit of promise, 14 who is given as a pledge “Ara-von” of our inheritance, with a view to the redemption of God’s own possession, to the praise of His glory.

See also
2 Corinthians 1 (NASB)

22 who also sealed  "Ch-Tam" us and gave us the Spirit in our hearts as a pledge “Ara-von”.

A Seal      חתם “cha-tam”
Blameless, Innocent       תם “tam”
To SIN      חטא ‘”Cha-ta”

Fear, Terror, dread          חת “Chat (hut)”

"Cha-tam" and "Cha-ta" are very nice word-puns used in Hebrew to describe - Sin being removed by a Seal (Association) - the blameless one who removes Fear/Terror/Dread!!

Genesis 3
Now the serpent was more crafty than any beast of the field which YeHoVaH God had made. And he said to the woman, “Indeed, has God said, ‘You shall not eat from any tree of the garden’?” The woman said to the serpent, “From the fruit of the trees of the garden we may eat; but from the fruit of the tree which is in the middle of the garden, God has said, ‘You shall not eat from it or touch it, or you will die.’” The serpent said to the woman, “You surely will not die! For God knows that in the day you eat from it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.” ....
Then YeHoVaH God called to the man, and said to him, “Where are you?” 10 He said, “I heard the sound of You in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; so I hid myself.” 11 And He said, “Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten from the tree of which I commanded you not to eat?” 12 The man said, “The woman whom You gave to be with me, she gave me from the tree, and I ate.” 13 Then the Lord God said to the woman, “What is this you have done?” And the woman said, “The serpent deceived me, and I ate.” 14 YeHoVaH God said to the serpent,
Because you have done this,
Cursed are you more than all cattle,
And more than every beast of the field;
On your belly you will go,
And dust you will eat
All the days of your life; ...
